We haven’t tested the beloved Andis T-Outliner, a specialty/companion tool that’s best for outlining (such as around the ears), shaving, and precision fades. Hot Cold Therapy Massager is a corded massager with variable intensity for light or intense massage. Comes complete with 7 attachment heads plus a heat and cold attachment. Compared with many of today’s household devices, hair clippers are decidedly low-tech. Arabelle Sicardi is a beauty writer and editor currently working on a nonfiction book, The House of Beauty, about the beauty industry. They’ve been on the beauty beat for over a decade and buzzed their own and their partner’s hair at home, both before the pandemic and during it. Since 2010, they’ve covered at-home hair care—from buzz cuts to hair coloring—at Rookie and for publications including Teen Vogue and Allure. Wahl Clipper Corporation has been the leader in the professional and home grooming category for nearly a century.

Having a cordless clipper is ideal, especially if you’re giving yourself a buzz. You also want something with a fast charge and a generous battery life. Typically, you’ll find clippers with a 40- to 60-minute run time on a full charge; that’s more than sufficient if you’re managing periodic at-home clips. And some cordless clippers can be used while they’re plugged in, too.

Other good hair clippers

Founded by Leo J. Wahl, who patented the electromagnetic hair clipper in 1919, we remain loyal to our roots and are still based in his hometown of Sterling, Illinois. These days, however, Wahl has more than 1,500 employees worldwide at six global manufacturing facilities, while our products are sold in approximately 165 countries. Wahl remains the global standard for integrity, value and efficiency. We are proud of our heritage of excellence, as well as our remarkable, ongoing history of ground-breaking innovations. There are a few grooming devices that every man should own, and a good hair clipper is one of them (right up there with an electric shaver).

Andis Slimline® 2 T-Blade Trimmer

Just spray some water into dry hair, and you can start trimming whenever you like. Some trimmers even come with an assortment of different tools so you can clean up unwanted facial & body hair in a jiff. To help you narrow down, we asked professional barbers and hairstylists which hair clippers they use for the freshest fades and tightest lines—and even tested the best hair clippers for men out there. While hair clippers are much more straightforward than, say, beard trimmers in terms of their range of capabilities, it’s still important to find a device that offers creative options. I considered factors like the range of clipping lengths offered by its guards, and whether those guards are sturdy enough to deliver an even clip every time.

Here are two other devices that were well-reviewed around the web but that didn’t make the cut on this roster of winners. That’s not saying they’re bad devices, but they aren’t among the best of the best for mass use or at-home buzz cuts. It’s also worth noting that I used cordless-ness as a barrier to entry in this contest, since the ergonomics and mobility are much better with cordless devices. While barbers need to have corded options available (for both power and longevity), the general at-home user does not have those same demands. If you’re mostly clipping your own hair, the smaller, lighter, and easier-to-maneuver Remington Virtually Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer may be a better choice than our heavier picks. The Remington’s lightweight (7½ ounces), palm-sized housing—coupled with rubberized grips—is the most comfortable of any we tried.

Andis ReVite Clipper

We've been using this product since 2017 and found the most valuable feature are the blades. Firstly, they are overlap blades, which means they’ll bring precision and details to your lines and edges. Secondly, they’re adjustable—from fine to coarse, or size 000 to 1, making them more versatile than ever. The Andis ReVite manages great 360-navigability despite a slightly heavier weight than other tools ...

The plentiful amount of guards also help take out some of the guesswork, which is always welcome. So whether you're a professional barber, or are looking to buzz off your own hair at home, our picks of the 10 best hair clippers for men make it easy for you to sport a clean, fresh coif without spending a lot of money or time. Now, bid farewell to frequent, costly salon visits and say hello to neat haircuts with the best hair clippers for men. I’ve said many good things about the Philips Norelco Series 9000 tools in the past—also our best overall pick for the best beard trimmer—but there are more kind words to say yet.

Remington HKVAC2000A Hair Clipper

We also have picks both for novices and for those more experienced in cutting hair at home. And we recommend a smaller, quieter model that’s ideal for cutting your own or kids’ hair. There’s no better way for a man to express his individuality than with facial hair but it’s important to find the right style for your face. Wahl provides all you need to know about beard and mustache styles, easy-to-follow instructions on how to achieve them and how to keep them looking great. Once the top is done you can change the blade guard as necessary and move on to the sides and back of the head. You want to buzz into the grain of the hair so as to catch as much of the long hair in the teeth of buzzer as possible.Smooth even passes are the key here.

And for those who need it, can the tool perform things like zero gapping (a blade realignment that allows you to trim directly on the skin) or taper cleanly from a skin fade up into a graduated fade? This isn’t always demanded by consumers; some may just want a single uniform buzz cut, but even then they should have a range of length options. When cutting your hair at home, actual hair clippers—like the professional kind a barber uses—should be used instead of trying to take your beard trimmer upstairs. Typically, hair clippers are more powerful than beard trimmers and are better for trimming all different kinds of hair types easily (though some trimmers are specifically designed for both). Investing in the best hair clippers if you’re going to do some at-home upkeep is essential if you want a haircut that looks good rather than homespun.

Whether it’s finding great products or discovering helpful advice, we’ll help you get it right (the first time). Many clippers with magnetic motors (as opposed to pivot or rotary motors) have a large adjustment screw located on the side. If your clipper begins to make an annoying and terrifying “chattering” sound, take a medium or large Phillips-head screwdriver and tighten or loosen that screw until it stops; then continue in the same direction another half-turn.

In the latter case, investing in a professional-grade device is likely more justified. Gutweniger, who often cuts with other Wahl devices, also raved about this one and trusted it enough to use regularly on her customers at the barbershop. She loves its sturdy guards, which don’t bend or bow as you move them around the head. And she isn’t bothered by its 12-hour charge time—which, to my frustration, extended to 15 or 16 hours before I realized that the charging light doesn’t ever turn off or change its color once complete.

Wahl Deluxe Corded Chrome Pro

Within a year, Wahl Manufacturing had manufactured and sold thousands of clippers all over the United States and in 1921 Leo renamed the company the Wahl Clipper Corporation. When Leo J. Wahl died on May 20, 1957, he had over 100 patent applications to his name. The clipper is moved so that hair is positioned between the teeth of the comb, and cut with a scissor action when one blade slides sideways relative to the other. Friction between the blades needs to be as low as possible, which is attained by choice of material and finish, and frequent lubrication. Clippers are for shaving down in a sense — a head shaver can get a closer shave, especially for those sporting a bald head. You can use them to trim hair before using a trimmer or shaver — and a clipper’s blade usually does the “length-reducing job” better than the average trimmer, Davis said.

Best Corded Hair Clippers

We wish it was cordless, and quieter, but it's hard to beat the Chrome Pro's value. Leo Wahl took over his uncle's manufacturing business after Frank left to serve in the Spanish–American War in 1898. Leo continued to work on his inventions and by 1921, he patented his final design of an invention more than a decade in the making- the first electric hair clipper.

Cord or Cordless

Similar to the Hatteker kit above, Philips Norelco’s device is a true all-in-one pick. You can swap out any of its guards for nose trimming or groin maintenance, or target your head hair with a T-blade outliner, clipper guard, or angled fade combs. It takes customization to a max, and that this device “does it all” is what’s so impressive. But that doesn’t mean you should buy it if you only need a hair clipper. However, you’ll find better performance if you invest in a dedicated clipper.

hair buzzer

In addition to being the most customizable grooming tool from beard to toe, this one also manages quite well for the head, according to Gutweniger’s testing. While the device doesn’t offer as many cutting options for hair clipping (since it cuts up to 7 mm in small intervals, but then jumps to 9 mm, 12 mm and 16 mm), what it lacks in length options it makes up for in customization. This includes the ease of fading hair around the ears with its two angled trimmer guards, as well as the ability to graduate in 1 mm increments with its fixed dial-adjusted guards. We gave this a Men’s Health Grooming Award for its prowess as a beard trimmer, but it brings the same power and ease of use to cut the hair on top of your head, too.

Hair Clippers vs. Beard Trimmers

The Bevel Pro is beloved by many expert groomers including celebrity barber Marcus Harvey, who has been putting the clippers to work for roughly two years now. After testing them out, he found "there is indeed a learning curve of using one tool instead of multiple. However, once you get past that challenge, you’ll get the hang of it and know your settings." The Wahl device's color-coded guards make it visually easier to change up clipping lengths. Wirecutter is the product recommendation service from The New York Times. The 10 Best Men’s Hair Clippers Deliver Even Buzzcuts and Pro-Level Fades

To find the best hair clippers, I researched the market and narrowed down to test eight ... We previously recommended the Remington HKVAC2000A as an option for easier cleanup. But our 2021 testers consistently found it to be the most flimsy model overall, the hardest to hold, and very loud. The vacuum feature—this model sucks up loose hair so it doesn’t land on you or the floor—is the best and only thing this model has going for it. But frankly that’s not enough of a priority, especially considering that you get better precision with smaller clippers we tried. Barber Eric Aleman cautioned in particular that should you ever drop a clipper, be sure to immediately inspect the blade for any bent or (especially) broken teeth.

How to Maintain Hair Clippers at Home?

Professionals typically favor corded clippers because they have more power - and don’t have to be charged between uses. For at-home haircuts, however, cordless can be more convenient to maneuver and can be more flexible to use. Then I handed them off to my own trusted barber, Evelyn Gutweniger, who got acquainted with them for a couple weeks and applied her studied perspective to each tool (but with amateurs in mind). She cared mostly about details like reinforced guard heads and having a broad range of cutting intervals. She found some tools too heavy or unwieldy for solo use, or simply not up to snuff in terms of quality. The ones she liked best, she used more readily on her own customers with a variety of hair types and style preferences.

How I Tested The Best Hair Clippers

It's much better to make a good pass once, rather then repeat the same pass over the same patch of hair over and over. Kevin Cortez is an editor for Runner's World, Bicycling, and Popular Mechanics covering reviews. A culture and product journalist for over ten years, he’s an expert in men’s style, technology, gaming, coffee, e-bikes, hiking, gear, and all things outdoors.

The Color Pro Plus tends to be sold out for longer periods than the Elite Pro, and it has historically suffered more price fluctuations. At this writing, the Color Pro Plus can again be reliably found in stock, for roughly half the cost of the Elite Pro set we recommend. Don’t go anywhere this year before taking a visit to the Nether Region with the electric body trimmer designed specifically to protect your precious cargo.

For the past two years, we consulted with Men's Health's Grooming editors and writers on the top hair clippers for men. In addition, we’ve done extensive research by interviewing professional barbers and hairstylists who use regularly use different hair clippers and made our picks from their curation. For expert insight, I tapped Evelyn Gutweniger, who is a Berlin-based barber at Nomad Barber. She has been cutting hair for 16 years, having trained in Italy, then barbering in the U.K., Australia and Germany.

For the past decade, they have written about and tested beauty products for Teen Vogue, Allure, and other outlets. They’re currently working on a nonfiction book about the beauty industry, The House of Beauty, to be published by Norton. The Virtually Indestructible is the only one of our picks covered by a lifetime warranty (blades excluded). Using state-of-the-art face-mapping technology, Style Selector creates a photo-real avatar of your face that allows you to see what styles suit you best (with no regrets). Check out the newest addition to your collection of Wahl grooming tools by clicking the button below.

The Wahl Elite Pro High Performance Hair Clipper Kit met or exceeded the quality or performance of all the other models we considered in nearly every way. It has the most reliable and easy-to-use guide combs of any clipper we’ve tried; in our tests, this turned out to be a key differentiator between an okay hair clipper and a great one. The Wahl Elite Pro also features sturdy housing and a pro-grade power cord, a powerful yet quiet-enough motor, and a useful and rugged hard-plastic carry case. Cutting your own hair isn’t terrifically hard, but it is easy to mess up. And one way to really mess up is to cut hair without using the right tools.

The Wahl Color Pro needs a full overnight charge to refill the tank, but one big upside is that the clippers can be used while plugged in. That’s not true of all hair clippers—and it ensures there’s never a moment where you can’t get a trim. We haven’t tested the corded Wahl 5-Star Senior, which is often compared to the Andis Master and is therefore best for experienced haircutters. It is specifically made for taper work and precision fades—which leads to excellent pro-level detail work. But for at-home haircuts, this model may require unreasonable skill and artistry. I think this kit should be in every man's home, especially if you’re the parent of an oft-buzzed child.

how to blur your house on google maps

You should get another email a few days after letting you know that it has completed your request. Fortunately, Google sees it the same way, and you can pretty easily request that your house be blurred out. You’ve probably even noticed that some houses have already been blurred on Google Maps. Google’s photographers and vehicles have captured all kinds of images while compiling Street View data. You’ve officially requested to get your house removed/blurred on Google Maps. Inside Google Maps is Street View, which shows 360-degree photos of places you’re searching for.

Q. Why is my House Blurred on Google Maps?

Some of these are specific to car owners, some to folks who require accessible spaces, but most of the things on this list are features everyone could use to save time and energy. He doesn't get much spare time, but when he does he spends it watching obscure movies and taking long walks in the countryside. Having strangers from all over the world stare at your home isn’t necessarily something you want to happen—but it can be done in seconds on the mapping apps we all carry around on our phones. Whether you’re censoring your home address and home imagery through Google Maps or Apple Maps, or both of them, is up to you as the home resident.

By deciding to blur out your house on Google Maps, you can ensure that you and your family enjoy the privacy you deserve. Deciding to blur out house on Google Maps is an effective way to protect your family's privacy. “There is some risk from the detailed visual information about a home and its surroundings that Google provides,” says Anna Redmond, founder of Southern California-based security company Braav. It's not clear exactly how long Google takes to process the requests, so you might as well get started now.

Blur your Photo Spheres

Google does update its Street View imagery over time, so your house may become unblurred if photographed again in the future. Google may also send you a different kind of email, asking you to be more specific about the areas that you want to be blurred out. If that’s the case, then you will have to complete this entire process again. So be sure that you focus the Street View camera on the correct location when you first submit your report. Yes, you can blur your house on Apple Maps by sending an e-mail to and requesting that your property be censored and hidden. Go to the Google Maps website and enter your home address in the search bar.

How to Hide an App on Your iPhone

However, you might notice that Google has blurred some houses on Street View. Instead, whoever lives there likely asked Google to do this for privacy concerns. If you want to do the same, here’s how to blur your house on Google Maps. I’m not sure Google even makes exemptions if you’re the new owner of a house that was previously blurred; you can try, but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.

Can iPhones Get Viruses? How to Detect & Remove Malware (iOS

If you’re blurring out your entire home, you’ll be asked to check a box certifying that you are the owner or a tenant of the property. There’s also a box asking you to explain in more detail what you’re blurring, where you can include specific details for extra accuracy. This is how you can request Apple and Google to blur your personal details from their maps. The final submit page doesn’t give a timeframe of how many days they will act and blur the object.

I also believe this request persists even if, or when, Google takes new Street View images of your area. It’s that big of a deal and, yes, it’s a really shitty “prank” to pull on someone else. Privacy is one reason it’s a good idea to blur out your house on Google Maps.

Then, you’ll see a list of nearby restaurants, along with reviews from other users who have visited each location. It is a good idea to double-check whether you have blurred your residence or not. Simply press the ‘Report a Problem’ link below the map to request a blur on your desired entity visible inside the map.

Google will review your report and contact you via email once they approve or deny your request. That’s all you need to know about blurring your house on Google Maps Street View. While Google isn’t super concerned about protecting people’s privacy, at least you have the ability to opt-out (sort of) from its Street View images. Once enabled, your current map will be marked with Blue Lines showing available street view imagery.

It allows us to get a birds eye view of places we’ve never seen before. We can look around corners, peek over fences, and even zoom in on buildings. If you want to find a restaurant near your house, you can simply type “restaurants near me” in Google Maps.

This includes everything from which car you have in the driveway, potential entry points, where delivery drivers leave packages, and even hint at how many people live in a particular household. You should see an email in your inbox from Google telling you that it will review your request and keep you updated when it’s accepted or denied. Google also might email you requesting more information so check your inbox periodically to ensure you get any additional communication.

With Google Maps, you can find local businesses, restaurants, and attractions. Google Maps has become a social network of some sort where you can connect with others and learn about new places. And because it’s free, everyone can use it anytime, anywhere. You had to rely on maps and directions from friends and family.

There are plenty of different reasons why you might want to blur the image of your house in Street View. Maybe you are having trouble with a stalker and want to make it more difficult to find your house. Maybe you don’t want the front of your house so easily available to potential robbers. But as amazing as Street View is, it also raises privacy concerns. Some people feel uncomfortable letting Google Maps reveal their homes, and others worry about being photographed without permission. Of course, these are valid concerns because it’s a security risk.

How to blur your house on Google Street View and why you should

The main reason it’s wise to do so is that burglars or stalkers can quickly check out your home online and plot a way inside. Because Google Maps offers a thorough look at your house, it’s easy for people to understand your home layout and figure out how they’d breach your privacy and enter your home. If you want your house blurred out on Google Maps, you’ll need to do it on a web browser. Blurring your home on the iOS or Android Google Maps apps isn’t possible at the time of writing. While you can access this feature on your smartphone’s browser, such as Chrome or Safari, you’ll want a screen that’s large enough to allow you to view and properly blur your home. If you’re on the web, click the Report a privacy concern with this image link (bottom left).

You might already know some of these, but you might have missed a handful of interesting hidden features. 3) Drag around the map and make sure the object you wish to blur is on the screen. Tap the three dots icon from the top right and choose Report a problem. You can get to Bing Maps on the web, and its street-level imagery is called StreetSide. To access it, click the map view button in the top right corner (it’ll probably say Road, as that’s the default view), choose StreetSide, then click on a blue line on the map. Google requires an email address to verify you actually live at the requested address.

Although knowing how to blur your house on Google Maps might help, it’s not an all-encompassing solution. Redmond recommends focusing on other measures that can improve your home security and privacy. “If your home is badly lit, poorly locked, or without security systems, you are making yourself much more vulnerable than by having your home viewable on Google Maps,” she says. "Also complaining were two colleagues pictured in an apparently compromising position who suffered embarrassment when the image was circulated at their workplace." I have always used Google Maps but never cared enough to look beyond the basic features. It wasn’t until today that I made an effort to explore the app and ended up going down a rabbit hole of all the cool things it’s capable of.

how to blur your house on google maps

Be sure of your decision before requesting your home to be blurred. You can also submit a request to blur your home using the mobile Google Maps app. If you’d prefer that your home wasn’t visible for all to see, you can submit a request to Google to have your home blurred out. You should think carefully about your choice, however, as once you’ve done so, there’s no going back. To get started with the digital blurring, pull up Google Maps on your computer and enter your home address. Either click on the picture of it in the upper-left corner of Google Maps to summon Street View, or click on the little person in the lower-right corner and drag the body onto the street.

Street-level collections and Photo Paths are automatically blurred to obscure identifying information like faces and license plates. For Photo Spheres, it's the photographer’s responsibility to decide which elements in their photos must be blurred to respect others’ privacy. You may have seen a Google car with a massive camera on top taking photos for Street View. Apart from making finding places easier by providing a look at exactly where you need to go, there are plenty of interesting things to see on Street View.

STEP 2: Click the “Report a Problem” button.

However, not everyone is happy about Street View, with many privacy advocates raising concerns about using the technology. Google automatically blurs out people’s faces and car license plates on Google Maps. However, there is plenty of information someone can gauge by looking at specific images. After you select what will be blurred, you’ll be asked to enter more information about what you want to blur out.

In the Maps app for Windows, click the Report a problem link (bottom right). Enter your email address, click the part of the image that shows your property, and choose House from the What kind of concern do you have? Next, click the three dots that are up in the top left corner (on the web) or the top right corner (in the app), and pick Report a problem. You’ll be given a form to fill out, which includes the Street View imagery and a red selection box—make sure this box precisely covers the area you want to blur. If you want privacy from strangers viewing photos of your property captured by Google Street View cameras, here's how. Blurring your house on Google Maps is a simple and useful feature that provides privacy and security for homeowners.

With the addition of features like the ability to measure the distance between two points, plan trips, and offline maps, it has improved very significantly. However, it could, at times, breach your privacy, so it’s safe to blur your home on Google Maps. If you entered your email address in the form, we may contact you to get additional information or to update you on the status of your report. Google says that any accepted blurring request is permanent.

When the request has been fulfilled, the home will be blurred and not visible on Street View. Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.

If you don’t see this, Google Maps doesn’t offer a street view of your area. Now, drag up, and maybe you’ll see the big horizontal street view option. You can also request to blur a face, car, or license plate on a car, but for our purposes here we are focused on blurring and hiding the home address. For example, you can see people’s houses as clear as day using the tool. Fortunately, Google offers a way to let users request to have their houses or other personal property blurred from Google Maps Street View.

Click on your desired location to view the corresponding street view. In case Google doesn’t own it, the owner of the photo is solely responsible to blur out your home or sensitive content before posting it to Google Maps. Either way, you must manually submit your request to Google to obstruct it. Street View on residential streets can provide a surprisingly in-depth look at the neighborhood and individual houses.

To blur your house on Google Maps, go to google.com/maps (you can't use the Google Maps mobile app) and enter your address in the search bar. Use the Street View icon to open it, and click Report a problem at the bottom right corner. Use the image preview tool to center your house and select My home in the Request blurring section. Once you’ve selected the area that should be blurred, scroll down and you’ll see four options for blurring the photo below. You can blur faces, the entire home, your car or license plate, and other objects in the picture.

Day 7 Victoria, British Columbia

Little kids will adore meet-and-greets with beloved characters onboard Disney cruises, or hanging with Dr. Seuss characters when sailing with Carnival. Older kids will love the rock climbing walls, video game stations, sports courts, go-karts and laser tag on Royal Caribbean and NCL ships. Generally, these one-way sailings travel from Seward or Whittier (the cruise ports closest to Anchorage) to Vancouver (or vice versa). Most itineraries are seven nights, but you'll find a handful that are longer. Most sail along the Inside Passage, a maritime route along the state's southern coast (and into British Columbia and Washington state) that weaves around the area's thousand islands. Some venture farther north into the Gulf of Alaska; these are often one-way cruises that begin and end at the ports near Anchorage.

Ships on this itinerary

Now that I’ve covered everything we did (that’s the important part of the trip to me), it’s time to cover the ship itself. Interestingly enough, it was built as a red-light district in the 1900s, home to brothels and saloons. Nowadays, it has been transformed completely, though you can still learn about its history at Dolly’s House Museum, which used to be one of Creek Street’s most famous brothels. Other than Emerald Lake, the most notable thing we did was visit the town of Carcross. The White Pass and Yukon Route Railway runs through the town, so we saw some fellow cruise ship passengers getting on or off the train here.

Best cruise lines for adventure-seekers

Read about Juneau, wildlife, local restaurants, Alaskan cuisine, and dog sledding you'll see on an Alaska cruise vacation. The Canadian government has made the decision to extend the interim order that prohibits cruise ships from sailing in its waters and calling on Canadian ports through February 2022. Don’t just see the Great Land’s glaciers, feel them come alive on an Alaska cruisetour.

Enjoy two glacier-viewing experiences on our top-rated 7-day cruise. From the green forests to the silver skyscrapers, discover what makes the Emerald City so worthy of its name on a cruise from Seattle. Explore Pike Place Market and drink coffee at the original Starbucks before or after sailing to Alaska. Whether on a short cruise or one-week itinerary, discover unique cultures, cuisines and adventures on a cruise from Seattle with Princess®. From exploring Denali National Park to fishing for salmon in Anchorage, discover the top Alaska destinations on a Princess cruise. You'll have your pick of itineraries and cabins — balcony cabins are popular in this scenic destination — and often the best fares. The population of Haines remains less than 2,000, according to the United States Census Bureau, and it isn't yet as touristy as some of the other Alaskan ports, such as nearby Skagway. It's known for great fishing (salmon, halibut and trout) and an eagle preserve — because eagles know where the best fish can be found. Alaska's capital city is interesting because no road leads from here to the rest of the state. It's located at the base of Mount Juneau, and you can only get there via boat or small plane — even residents have to bring their cars to Juneau via ferry.

Glacier Bay National Park is a United States National Park located in the panhandle of southeastern Alaska. It’s home to 3.3 million acres (13,000 km2) of temperate rainforest, fjords, and glaciers. There are definitely cool views from the ride but know that it’s hard to capture photos while inside the tram due to glare and how scuffed up the windows are. But my favorite view to capture is right when you get off the tram.

With 3.3 million acres to explore, cruise to this world-renowned landmark — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and let the landscapes inspire your next adventure. Princess Cruises is an authorized concessioner of Glacier Bay National Park. Alaska cruisetours combine our top-rated Voyage of the Glaciers cruise with three to ten nights on land exploring Denali National Park.

With no roads connecting it to the rest of Alaska or North America, it is truly a protected destination. Founded as a gold mining town and now the state’s capital, Juneau has one foot in history and one in the future. Embark on a whale watching tour, or sail past Mendenhall Glacier on an Alaska cruise. Most Alaska itineraries include some "scenic cruising," where your ship sails past incredible natural sights. Sitka is as much a working fishing town as it is a tourist destination. Sitka's Russian heritage also sets it apart from other Alaskan ports on your cruise itinerary.

Ultimate Wildlife Adventure cruisetour

Cruises at the beginning (April and May) and end (September and October) of Alaska's cruise season are generally a bit cheaper than those in June, July and August. Please note that port orders, dates, and itinerary details, including content, are subject to change. Verify specific details for your chosen sailing date on the Princess Cruises website.

Day 4 Juneau, Alaska

Here you can photograph the tram itself with Juneau in the background. We also stopped at Photo Point along the Nugget Falls trail. Once you get to the top, you barely have enough time to get photos since everyone wants the same photo. And, honestly, the view at the top is pretty mediocre compared to the views you can see elsewhere in Juneau. I think the coolest part of the tour is the upside-down trees you’ll see. They’re sporadically placed along the tour, but the majority (and the only ones you can actually get a photo with) are at the visitor’s center.

Deciding What Type of Room to Book:

So now I’ll get into how I made each of those decisions and ended up on a 7-Day Inside Passage Cruise from Seattle to Alaska on the Royal Princess. Valdez is situated in Prince William Sound and serves as the gateway to the interior of Alaska. Often referred to as the "Little Switzerland", Valdez is known for its breathtaking panorama of snow-capped mountains and glaciers. It is also well-known for its role in the transportation of crude oil from the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, which ends in Valdez.

Restaurant prices in Alaska can be high, but a cruise bundles meals, accommodations and transportation into one price that, with sales, can be cheaper than you'd think. Juneau is a popular cruise port for Alaska cruises, located on the Inside Passage of Alaska. It is the capital city of Alaska and the third largest city in the state. Not giant ones that could sink the ship, but still plenty big.

Even a Baked Alaska was offered one night in the dining rooms. Our ship offered a lot of enrichment presentations related to Alaska, including Steve Hites’ "North to Alaska" show. We even got to spend some time with Alaskan sled dog puppies.

Day 2 Juneau, Alaska

Extend your cruise vacation, and simplify your travel plans with a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your cruise. Alaska cruises provide plentiful opportunities to learn about Native Alaskan culture. You can get a taste of the gold rush life by trying your hand at panning for gold, attending a salmon bake or visiting a dog-sled camp. A hike on the Chilkoot Trail or ride on the White Pass Railway lets you follow in the footsteps of the miners who came to seek their fortunes. These ships often feature complimentary shore excursions, kayaks and bikes for guest use and onboard scientists and naturalists. They want to admire its rugged beauty, seek out wildlife (such as eagles, bears and whales) and learn about its Native cultures and gold rush history.

Best Dishes to Try on Your Alaska Cruise

Some of the game shows, like Deal or No Deal, Yes No Game, Strikeout, Liar’s Club, The Perfect Couple, Marriage Match, and Hollywood Hiccups are a bigger affair and attract a crowd. The humor is good-natured and, for the most part, fairly clean. I will say that we found a few events where the crew crossed the line a bit. There is a huge mix of food offered here with new, additional items offered each day.

With an abundance of landmarks and wildlife, take in the sights and sounds of the Inside Passage from the comfort of your ship or on a thrilling excursion ashore. Explore fjords, glaciers and Gold Rush-era towns on weekend voyages out of Seattle. Glaciers, wildlife and mountains await you on a cruise from Seattle to Alaska. Our roundtrip voyages bring you up close to untouched landmarks, including Glacier Bay National Park or Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier. Fish for salmon in Ketchikan, meet sled dogs in Juneau and pan for gold in Skagway. Experience it all with Princess, the #1 cruise line in Alaska.

Denali National Park boasts the continent’s highest peak, and Glacier Bay National Park is one of the world’s largest protected areas. You can discover even more magnificence during your Alaska cruisetour at Wrangell-St. Elias and Kenai Fjords National Parks, where one of the four largest ice caps in the world invites guests to explore its terrain.

At the complimentary fine dining restaurant, we thoroughly enjoyed their wild-caught Alaskan salmon and other fresh fish. From there, we walked back to the cruise ship because I was freezing and very, very tired. I went solo because it’s quite a pricy activity and I can’t imagine Harrison and me bringing a one-year-old on it! So I strapped my tripod and camera to my body (you can’t have bags with you) and joined a tour with five other passengers and the pilot.

Kids had the opportunity to become junior rangers (James was obviously too young for this, though!). Between the natural masterpieces and the animate personalities, every part of Alaska tells an extraordinary story. On an Alaska cruisetour with Princess, discover what makes the Great Land so special, and craft your own tales of your time on land and sea. Tour a working Alaska homestead and learn how the Great Land’s residents have become so self-sufficient.

When deciding which itinerary to choose, one thing I knew was that I wanted to see Glacier Bay National Park and certain towns in Southeast Alaska. Princess Cruises offers basically two different 7-Day Alaska Cruise itineraries with the biggest difference being Glacier Bay vs Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier. Some other Alaska cruises from Seattle offer the Hubbard Glacier or Tracy Arm. I think that a week is ideal for a trip through Southeast Alaska. It gives you enough time to cruise to Alaska and then see several different places in the Inside Passage. If you’ve already chosen your cruise or know which one you want to go on, you can click here to skip to what we did at each cruise port.

Other easy spots to visit include The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center, the Tongass Historical Museum, Chief Johnson’s totem pole and the Totem Heritage Center. While you’re walking here, you’ll get great views of Ketchikan Creek while appreciating Native Alaskan art in the form of totem poles, which tell stories about Alaskan history and culture. And, of course, there are souvenir shops where you can buy Alaskan gifts and keepsakes, restaurants that serve fresh Alaskan cuisine, and more. Our ship did a scenic cruising through Glacier Bay National Park, so we didn’t get off the ship. They’d come over the loudspeakers with fascinating facts, stories, and other tidbits about the national park.
